Synopsis

Genet's epic play, set in the Algerian War, is here transported to East Los Angeles. The Algerian uprising becomes the LA uprising of 1992, as the production wanders through a cityscape populated by the high and the low, the living and the dead.

This second play in Cornerstone's Boyle Heights residency was an adaptation of Jean Genet's The Screens by Gloria Alvarez directed by Peter Sellars. Performed as a roving journey through the 2nd floor of the East Los Angeles Skills Center.
