Synopsis

This examination of choice, created with egg donors, sperm donors, surrogates, people seeking surrogates, disabled women, nontraditional families and others, broke the cycle of polarized abortion debates to ask, “Who can afford to have—or not have—children, and who can’t?”

A disabled woman fights to adopt an abandoned baby, while a middle-class couple struggles to conceive. As they wade through the clashing advice of friends, strangers, social workers, and fertility doctors, they discover that having a baby in Los Angeles can be a daunting task. Will they get the families they dream of—and at what cost?

Created in collaboration with disabled women, teen and surrogate mothers, sperm and egg donors, and non-traditional families, Someday breaks the cycle of polarized abortion debates and asks, “Who can afford to have—or not have—children, and who can’t?”

Community partners include: Feminist Majority Foundation, National Organization for Women (Hollywood Chapter), South Asian Network, Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, and Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project
